Ok, I need to backtrack a little.

Hello-Music is life

First, I have to thank my brothers, Sean and Nate for getting excited about reliving this tale and for the correcting my memory. It feels like visiting home after decades and remembering the good ol’ days over a beer(s) at Chris’s club or O’Leary’s. Oh f*@k, O’Leary’s Pub! Man that just flooded my mind!

Oh! Sorry, I drifted off there for a second.

Because this feels so awesome and telling this story is uncovering my musical history, I feel the need to backtrack a little and adjust a few details that, well, it’s a wonder I can remember anything from back then and that’s when I rely on help of those that were there with me, living it. Including a 20 hour day that started with band practice then to a cd release show, to calling my mom for a ride from the Concord mall at 3 am because the lead singer was my ride home and he was arrested on our way home for DUI. When I think about all the crap I(we) survived, it makes me wonder why I get so stressed or depressed over bills, work and world issues.

Don’t worry though, I’m not gonna go back too far and I won’t incriminate anyone, without their permission. I think I’ll start with my bro Nate and our time starting in High school.

Cira 1991.

""FUTURE DAVE HERE. Do yourself a favor and watch “Green Day:The Early Years on YOUTUBE, Link at the bottom. It’s heavily about Green Day but also so much great footage and interviews from some of the places, artists and things that Sean, Nate, Jason, Ian, myself and all of us in the Valley-J/B-Town were doing and listening to back then. Small world doesn’t even cover it. One of my best friends and Guitar virtuoso, Scott Morris taught Billy Jo, guitar.""

Ok, I’m back.

Nate and I grew up “Troubled Yoot’s” Excuse me did you say, Yoot’s? lol. We loved METAL!! Metallica, Testament, Motley Crew, GnR, Ozzy etc. Nate and I taught ourselves guitar by learning Metallica and GnR. We’d crank our 25W Crate practice amps to 11 and play really badly (well, I did) Nate is just a riff machine. He always brought out the thickest, dirtiest rhythms. He bought a Hammer, Mike bought an electric drum set, I bought my Peavey Predator and we became EQUILIBRIUM, I still have your drawing of the “Pull your Strings” album cover you drew, Nate.

I am getting ahead of myself. Up until that point we were privileged to be able to practice at Nates church. His dad was the music director/sound man so we had a stage, P.A., and a drum set behind Plexiglas. oh and Nates dad owned a Limo service so we would ride to practice in a white stretch limo.

Next time,

Christian Death Metal? Meeting Mark Salomon and Greg Minier from The Crucified and my first kiss at church camp.
