THAT SOUNDS FAMILIAR

Music is life.

Well, needless to say that summer camp was awesome!  I had a lot of fun, but  when we got back and started school again, I was faced with the fact that I wouldn’t see Nate and those guys as much due to me, going to school in Walnut Creek. It took me two hours to get there and two hours back by bus, so I really didn't get a chance to hang out with Nate, Mike, and Aaron all that much during the day. Until we had band practices of course.

That's why I decided to transfer to Hogan Sr. High School. Hogan was only, I don't know, a miles from my house. So I got to walk instead of get up two hours early, get on a bus and hope I didn't have to piss myself on the way sitting through traffic from Vallejo to Walnut Creek.

I started to notice that the songs that Nate was writing were all similar in their style. After awhile I was having some issues with Nates dad, Dan too. You know, it was mostly prima donna lead singer stuff.

That’s right, He called me HAL one night.  I had severe bad breath back then. And the kids at school used to call me HAL, short for halitosis. I don't know if that's what set it off, but it was during a band practice. I was like, I just got to go, F these guys.  I don't need them. I'm going to leave. So I ended up walking from the church, which was probably a good five miles. I don’t remember if I walked home or not. I did a lot of walking in those days, even when I had a car, I I walked all over Vallejo and Benicia.  I wasn’t quitting the band at that point, but it was just, “I don't want to be here”.

I don't remember where this was going. I just, I was looking for something else and I thought that the conflict was that I wasn't around enough.

Funny enough. All of my grades, I was a C/C+student at the Christian high school. But because of the public school standards, me credits far exceeded what was needed to graduate.

In fact I think my senior year, I went to my locker ONE time and that was to put the lock on it. I think I put a lunch in there too, lol The whole idea was to get closer to the band and the people in the area and that's where I met Sean. That's where I met a lot of the people in different bands. When I did that I started to, you know, meet new people, get inspired by other music.

I was GROWING!! LOL :D

Next time:

Playing International day in the Quad and other such nonsense.
